Bubbles in Time is a captivating collection, showcasing the eccentricities of like-minded individuals on their annual pilgrimage to the location of their special events, festivals, or clubs. The series title pays homage to Seurat's pointillism, using bubbles to illustrate the dots, each containing or reflecting images relevant to the work—a nod to special people or landmarks.
Performance clothes of obsessions, stylish uniforms, and creative expressions around a subject or theme capture the revelous natures of the participants, fostering group frivolities that create new and old stories with each passing year, growing in spectacle and glory.
Tools. Materials. Processes:
131x 101 cm Acrylic on stretch canvas. varieties of Hue's, metallic, interference, acrylic paints, mixed, different solutions and quantities for visual effects and transparencies.
Household paint rollers and artists acrylic brushes. Studies made from photos taken at the event, as rough guides for composition, spatial and theatrical effects.
Paint is rollered for solid foundation to the base piece. Mindfully painting the background, thinking about the finished artwork. Form and composition are placed with colour and tone. Adding Characters and building architectural or scenic aspects of the original master piece or monuments etc with painterly notations. Inspirational ideas or snippets of research from the internet, local library, historical society, press or relevant publication.
